What We Believe
What we believe about God, the Father
We believe there is one true, sovereign and living God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. He is the first person of the Holy Trinity.
What we believe about Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He is the second person of the Trinity. We believe Him to be fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
What we believe about the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, is a divine Person, eternal, underived, possessing all the divine attributes, and is coequal with the Father and the Son. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the believer of sin and regenerates the sinner through Christ. The Holy Spirit transforms and empowers believers, equipping them for godly living.
What we believe about the Bible
We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament to be inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. Where the Bible is clear, we will be emphatic. Where the Bible is silent, we must allow people freedom.
What we believe about man
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person, male and female, in His image. These two distinct genders are complementary and together they reflect the image of God. We teach that man was created good, but willingly sinned against God. Therefore, all humanity is fallen, spiritually lost, and under condemnation. Thus, man needs a Savior.
What we believe about salvation
We teach that Christ came to reconcile creation back to its Creator. He did this by living a sinless life and dying in our place. Christ was the perfect substitute and by His sacrifice, man can be made right before God. Whosoever will call upon the Name of the Lord in faith, will be saved by God’s Grace. At this point, the Holy Spirit indwells the believer and secures them for eternity. This is accomplished by God and not by the effort of man.
What we believe about ordinances
We teach that Christian baptism is a public declaration of and identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection signified by immersion in water. This is the first step of obedience in the life of a believer.
The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration by believers of Christ’s death until He comes and should be preceded by a careful self-examination. We invite all baptized believers to participate in communion weekly.
What we believe about the charismatic gifts
We believe that God the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowing of all His gifts for the perfecting of saints today. While the Scriptures do not teach that spiritual gifts have ceased, we do not encourage the use of the “charismatic gifts” or “sign gifts” as a normative pattern in the life of a believer. Nor do we teach that any gift is required as evidence of salvation, including the gift of tongues.
What we believe about death and eternity
The consequence for sin is death: everyone is born spiritually dead and everyone will physically die. After this, all will stand before God. For those who have placed their faith in Christ, they will enter into rest and eternal fellowship with God. Those who have not put their faith in Christ will be eternally separated from God in hell.
What we believe about the Church
Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, all believers have therefore become part of His body, the church. There is one Church universal, composed of all those true believers. The Scriptures command believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, and service. The church is the Bride of Christ.
As a local part of the Body of Christ, Jesus is our Head, under Him we are elder led, staff directed, deacon supported, and volunteer equipped.
